The name “ The Dying city” comes from the never-ending erosion of the hill made of clay and tuff. The erosion has also shaped the surrounding valley. Due to that, the village is going to disappear.

CIVITA DI BAGNOREGIO VISITORS – RULES AND REGULATIONS
The entrance is free ONLY for:
- Disable People, (100% of disability, a disabilities card must be shown) and their helpers;
- Children under 6 years old, ( an identity card must be shown);
- Citizens of Bagnoregio and their relatives;
- A teacher or escort of school trips, (every 10 students);
- Students who study and teachers who teach in Bagnoregio;
- Executive Directors and Conservators of Italian and Foreign Museums, Archeological sites, and of historical and cultural goods invited by the Municipality of Bagnoregio;
- Journalist, (a proper badge must be shown),
- Tour Guides who accompany groups, (a proper badge must be shown);
- Interpreters when working together with a tour guide, (a proper badge must be shown);
- Residents of the Hamlet;
- Guests of the houses’ owners in Civita di Bagnoregio.
